In their own words: Patients describe the best-in-the-nation care they receive at Kaiser Permanente

Sep 23, 2019

After receiving her cancer diagnosis, a coordinated team of Permanente physicians worked with Molly Young to develop a treatment plan designed specifically for her.

“I felt from day one, in the darkest time of my life, I could still laugh and I could still have joy and I could still be myself, thanks to Kaiser Permanente,” said the 29-year-old teacher and singer who lives in Baltimore.

Today she is also a cancer survivor due to the uniquely high-quality care she received from her Permanente physicians, which she said made her “feel like a warrior.”

The high-quality care that Molly Young received from her care teams at Kaiser Permanente was validated again this year with a just-released 5 out of 5 rating according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Insurance Plan Ratings 2018-2019. Additionally, out of more than 1,000 plans rated across the country, Kaiser Permanente in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia stands alone as the only health plan in the nation to receive 5 out of 5 for its Commercial plan for two consecutive years.

Kaiser Permanente is recognized for providing award-winning health care that is convenient, connected, and personalized to nearly 750,000 members in the Mid-Atlantic States.

For retired Kaiser Permanente member Dave Green, having quality care in his corner saved his lifelong passion for riding motorcycles. When knee and hip pain made it so he could no longer ride, David was able to immediately meet with a surgeon he trusted to discuss next steps—which soon resulted in a successful outpatient hip replacement surgery. David thanks Kaiser Permanente for improving his health, so he can “continue to lead the life he loves.”
