Get care where and when it’s most convenient for you
Why go out of your way for quality care when you can have a video visit anytime, anywhere? A video visit1 is a virtual chat you can have with your primary care physician from any remote location, using your smartphone, tablet, or other camera-equipped device.
When you’re dealing with a cold, the flu, or physical pains, the last thing you want to do is leave the comfort of your home to make a trip to the doctor. With video visits, your doctor can come to you instead.
Video visits are available for many conditions, including:
- Cough, cold, sore throat, allergies, and sinus conditions
- Flu
- Pink eye
- Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
- Aches and pains
- Minor injuries
- Skin conditions
- Urinary issues
- Sleep or mood problems
Video visits are also great for getting quick, easy advice from your physician regarding previous conditions that have not improved, chronic and mental health conditions, and the proper use of medication for various conditions.
Because your primary care physician can access your health information via your electronic medical record, your care is always seamless, convenient, and connected. You get the same quality care from a video visit that you would when visiting your personal physician in their office.
Making the most of video visits
You can schedule video visits online at kp.org or by using the Kaiser Permanente (KP) app. If you are unsure whether your symptoms qualify for a video visit, call the Kaiser Permanente appointment line at 800-777-7904 (TTY 711), 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
To schedule a video visit, you must be registered on kp.org and have either a computer with a webcam,2 or a smartphone or tablet with the KP app downloaded. To join your scheduled video visit,3 log in to the KP app on your mobile device, or log in to kp.org on your computer, then navigate to the Appointment Center and click “Join Appointment.”
1Video visits are available to Kaiser Permanente members who have a camera-equipped computer or mobile device and are registered at kp.org. You must be present in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, for visits with your primary care physician or mental health provider. For urgent video visits with an emergency doctor, you may also be present in West Virginia, Florida, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania. Video visits are for certain medical or mental health conditions. For video visits with a mental health provider, appointments can be scheduled for follow-up care.
